WP Daily Prompt: Through the Window, What Do I See?

WP DAILY PROMPT:

THROUGH THE WINDOW, WHAT DO I SEE?

I like the table on my back porch off the kitchen, which is surrounded by windows. The table abuts one window, making it the perfect spot for seeing the outdoors, especially in the winter chill when the snow falls gently. The snow is doing that now, adding to the blanket of snow already accumulated on several previous days during much wilder snowfalls.

The forest green of the hemlock pines offers a good contrast to the unstained purity of the country snow. Rocks, sufficiently big that their exposed sides add a grayish color to the world, are covered by about six inches of the soft powdery mix. One of the birch trees is bent over, not from this snowstorm. It never recovered from last April’s wet snowfall.

But the best thing I see out the window is a filled bird feeder surrounded by birds whose food is covered by thousands—no, probably millions—of crystalline flakes that create a four-inch cover on the feeder. They flit about the feeder, providing me with plenty of entertainment.
