10 DIFFERENCES SEPARATE WINNERS FROM LOSERS
I found the following list while sorting through a pile of papers. Although I don’t necessarily agree with the black-and-whiteness of the list, I do feel it has some interesting ideas on how people who “lose” and people who “win” self-talk.
So, according to the list, what do losers tell themselves (how do they see themselves) and what do winners tell themselves (how do they see themselves)?
Losers: With my luck I’m bound to fail.
Winners: I was good today. I’ll be better tomorrow.
Losers: They’re my hang-ups, faults. I’m stuck with them.
Winners: I see myself changing, growing, winning.
Losers: I can’t understand why life did this to me.
Winners: I take the credit or the blame for my actions.
Losers: I’d rather be someone else.
Winners: I do things well because I’m that kind of person.
Losers: Who knows what I could do if I only had a chance.
Winners: I know who I am, where I’m coming from, and where I’m going.
Losers: I can’t because…
Winners: I want to because…
Losers: I;ll try to hang in there, muddle through the day.
Winners: I have a plan to make it happen whatever it takes.
Losers: How can you expect me to do it? I don’t know how. It’s too hard.
Winners: Of course I can do it. Let me try it.
Losers: I’m only concerned with me.
Winners: I live every moment enjoying, doing, giving, as muc as I possibly can.
Losers: There’s no point in discussing it. We’re not on the same wave length.
Winners: Tell me what you want. Maybe we can work it out together.
