AUGUST 2013 WELCOME MESSAGE
I want to thank all those who recently signed up for a subscription to CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS, and to all my faithful readers.
Half-way through July I realized I hadn’t posted a July welcome message. What was I doing in June that distracted me so much?
Perhaps it was catching up from traveling most of May. I had to unpack, do the gardening, review mail, etc., get some badly needed rest, and prepare for my husband Monte’s 75th birthday.
We celebrated his birthday with a patio open house, which gave us an opportunity to catch up with old friends, visit with newer friends. My gracious thanks to all those who attended on a day blessed with good weather.
At the end of June we were adopted by a second cat, a regal gray beauty.
July was also a busy month. I continued attacking the gardening, cleaning, and routine things while trying to write. In mid-month we traveled to the Holland family reunion in Northern New York and stopped at Buffalo and Slippery Rock (PA) on the way home. This was during the high-humidity heat wave.
Again, back home, unpacking, cleaning, etc. And taking the new family member to the vet, where we learned it is King Bony Moroni. Hope to write a post about him soon. Still have this to do with the cat that adopted us in December (no, we aren’t up for any more—the inn is full).
On the 27th we attended a retirement party, capping it off with a brief stop at the Kecksburg UFA festival, and on the 28th we attended a Hungarian picnic, topped off with an outdoor concert on the Ligonier Diamond.
So off we are into August, the last month of summer. Will life ever settle down?
Enjoy the rest of your summer. Carolyn Cornell Holland
