The Gospel Truth

CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS

THE GOSPEL TRUTH

Monte W. Holland

Is everything you read on the Internet the “gospel truth?”

Recently I received a forward from my brother-in-law, one of a number that he forwards each day. This one caught my attention. It purportedly explained why Mr. Rogers always wore a sweater. Intrigued, I clicked it open. It contained material about Mr. Rogers, Bob Keesham (Captain Kangaroo), and Lee Marvin.

It didn’t take a lot of searching to discover that not only was the information wrong, but that it had such a large circulation that persons are making secondary posts using this phony information.

I guess this shouldn’t surprise me considering that there are “sicko’s” out there that create and send viruses just for some weird sense of satisfaction.

As an old-timer I have been amazed at the communication explosion that the computer and the internet have brought to us. I go way back to mainframe computers, punch cards, and yellow paper tapes that many of this generation haven’t even seen, let alone used.

I would like to be able to use the Internet, and whatever other tools come along, in whatever time I have left. It’s shameful that some persons use this media as a misinformation tool instead of a place to share truth and to edify others.

  1. I agree! There are too many “sickos’ and “weirdos” using the internet these days!
