With due consideration, I have concluded that blogging* is good for writers. Thus, I had plans to create a blog for my historic romance novel—when I had the first draft of the first half done. About two months from now.

However, life doesn’t come with my plans. It usually has a plan of its own.

With the future in mind, I decided to play around with the inside works of wordpress.com and learned how to insert photos within the text.** I explored the insides to discover other ways to build a site that will not only enhance my novel site, but is already improving the writing sites I manage.*** One example is the use of “widgets.”

With my best laid plans a complication arose. Actually, something good. I was contacted  by a big company in Philadelphia which wanted to use a post in its 50th anniversary publicity. The post was a background story for my novel. Since a link to my site would be posted with the huge e-mail publicity, I wanted it to be to my novel’s blogsite.

     But it wasn’t set up.

I worked quickly to fix this problem, using all the skills I have developed through the other blogging on wordpress.com. I wanted to be able to insert pictures in the text of the posts on this new site. Check. I knew how to use the widgets, including the subscription option. Check. In addition, I learned how to choose a site that would allow me to post a picture across its top.

I set the blog up quickly because I already have a backlog of posts supporting the novel on CAROLYN’S COMPOSITIONS (www.carolyncholland.wordpress.com ). They are, however, scattered amidst my other posts, most in identified categories. The new site will have posts exclusively pertaining to the novel—it’s background research, it’s pre-novel scenes, some novel scenes, etc.

When a woman called me from Maine saying she had discovered me by researching Madame Rosalie de Leval, I was prepared. I could send her to my novel’s site, and suggest that she subscribe, since she is interested in precisely the material I will be posting on that site. She had heard about Madame from a friend who had discovered this extraordinary woman. I called him, and again was prepared to refer him to the novel site.

I invite you to visit the site: www.intertwinedlove.wordpress.com . I also invite you to evaluate it. Let me know how I can improve it, and let me know if you catch any errors. Nicely, please. Thank you!
